Salem Housing Preservation

Salem Housing Preservation properties are split into a 4% and a 9% project, each project with 50 units. These projects were recently remodeled to expand the unit counts and sizes to 1, 2, 3, and 4 Bedroom units.

4% properties are listed as green on the map to the left and 9% are listed as blue.

You can also click on each property to view more information about it.

Eligibility

Income limits and various other factors determine who is chosen from our waiting list to fill vacant units. Each property has its own process for filling units, which can be found here:

Brush College: Tenant Selection Plan

Meadowlark Village: Tenant Selection Plan

Livingston Village: Tenant Selection Plan

Northgate Village: Tenant Selection Plan

Income limits

10 units at Brush College and 4 units at Meadowlark will be filled at the 40% limit. All other units will be filled at the 60% limit. We encourage you to apply if you are close to the limit as some programs count income differently and your income or the limits may change by the time you come to the top of the list.

Waiting List Applications

Waiting list is closed for 4% properties (in green on the map) and for 9% properties (in Blue on the map). Units are offered in order of vacancy at time of eligibility determination.

It is important to keep your contact information updated with SHA while you are on any waiting list. You will be contacted by mail when your name comes to the top of the waiting list. If SHA's correspondence to you is returned by the US Postal Service, you will be removed from all waiting lists you are on.

The current wait period estimate for each waiting list is 3-4 years for 1-bedroom units, 2-3 years for 2-bedroom units, 1-2 years for 3-bedroom units, and 2-3 years for 4-bedroom units. Estimated wait times may change at any time depending on funding, vacancy rates, and market conditions. SHA does not provide applicants their waiting list position and is not able tell you how long your wait will be.
